01
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember your actions and preferences over time, so you do not have to re-enter them each time you return or move between pages. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, to improve the experience and to provide information to the people who run the site.
02
How we use cookies
We use cookies to keep the site working correctly, to remember the route preferences you have chosen, and to understand in an aggregated way how our pages are used so we can improve them. We do not use cookies to build detailed advertising profiles, and we do not sell any information collected through cookies. You can control non-essential cookies at any time through the settings described below.
03
Essential cookies
Essential cookies are necessary for the website to function. They enable core features such as page navigation, security and remembering your cookie choices. Because the site cannot work properly without them, these cookies do not require your consent and cannot be switched off in our settings panel. They do not store any information that identifies you personally beyond what is needed to operate the site.
04
Preference cookies
Preference cookies allow the site to remember choices you make, such as the routes you have saved or viewed and the display settings you prefer. They make your next visit smoother by keeping these details ready for you. These cookies are optional; if you choose not to allow them, the site will still work, but it may not remember your previous selections.
05
Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use our website — for example, which routes are most viewed and how people move between pages. The information collected is aggregated and does not identify you individually. We use it only to improve the content and usability of the site. These cookies are optional and are set only if you choose to allow them.
06
Third-party cookies
Some cookies may be set by third-party services we use, such as our payment processor at the point of booking or an embedded map. These providers set cookies according to their own policies, over which we have limited control. Where such cookies are not essential, we only allow them with your consent, and we encourage you to review the relevant provider's policy for more detail.
07
How long cookies last
Cookies are either session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them. We keep persistent cookies only for as long as needed for their purpose — typically from a few days up to around twelve months — after which they expire or are refreshed if you continue to use the site.
08
Managing cookies in our settings
When you first visit our site, a banner lets you accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies or open the settings panel to choose which categories to allow. You can reopen this panel at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of any page. Your choices are saved and applied on future visits until you change them again.
09
Managing cookies in your browser
Most browsers let you view, manage and delete cookies through their settings, and to block cookies from being set. The steps differ between browsers, so please consult your browser's help pages for instructions. Please note that if you block or delete essential cookies, some parts of this website may not work as intended, and your saved preferences may be lost.

What is stored in your browser right now
FuturePinecone keeps this website deliberately light. We do not currently load analytics, advertising pixels or social-media widgets, so no optional cookie is set on your device today. The single item we save is your answer to the cookie banner, stored in your browser’s local storage under a key starting with “wh_consent_”, so the banner does not reappear on every page of the walk descriptions.
Should we ever want to see which neighborhood routes are read most — Asakusa’s temple lanes or the morning backstreets — any tool for that will stay off until you switch it on in the cookie settings.
11
Web fonts and your IP address
Our pages use typefaces served from Google Fonts. To display them, your browser fetches the font files directly from Google, which receives your IP address and browser information in the process. This request does not place a cookie on your device, and Google states that the data is not used for advertising, but it is a connection to a third party and we would rather you knew about it.
12
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or in the law. When we make changes, we will update the revision date at the top of this page. We encourage you to check this page periodically so you remain informed about our use of cookies and your available choices.
