These terms govern your use of the FuturePinecone website and the walking and cultural tour services we provide. Please read them carefully before booking a walk.

By accessing this website, requesting a route or booking a walk, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you are booking on behalf of others, you confirm that you have authority to accept these terms for every member of your group. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use our services.

FuturePinecone offers guided and self-guided walking routes focused on historic streets, traditional neighborhoods and local culture across Japan. Guided walks are led by our guides; self-guided routes are supplied as printed or digital route cards. Descriptions, distances and durations are provided in good faith and may vary with weather, street conditions and the availability of the shops and sites along a route.

A booking is confirmed only when we send you a written confirmation. Until then, a requested date, time or guide is not reserved. You are responsible for providing accurate contact details and for telling us about any accessibility needs, health considerations or group changes before the walk. We reserve the right to decline or cancel a booking where we cannot safely or reasonably fulfil it.

Prices are shown at the time of booking and are quoted in Japanese yen unless stated otherwise. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, full payment is due at the time of booking. We may update our prices at any time, but confirmed bookings are charged at the price shown when they were confirmed. You are responsible for any bank, card or currency conversion fees charged by your provider.

If you need to cancel, please tell us as early as possible. Cancellations made at least seven days before the walk receive a full refund; cancellations made between two and seven days before receive a fifty percent refund; cancellations made within forty-eight hours are not refundable, as the guide's time has already been committed. If we cancel a walk for reasons within our control, you will receive a full refund or the option to rebook.

Walks run in most weather, and we recommend suitable clothing and footwear. In the event of severe weather, natural disaster warnings or other conditions that make a walk unsafe, we may alter the route, reschedule or cancel. Where we reschedule or cancel for safety reasons, we will offer you an alternative date or a full refund. We are not responsible for separate costs you incur, such as travel or accommodation.

Our walks pass through residential streets, places of worship and working businesses. You agree to follow your guide's instructions, to respect residents, shopkeepers and other visitors, to keep to permitted areas and to behave with care for your own safety and that of others. We may end a walk, without refund, for any participant whose behaviour is unsafe, unlawful or disruptive to the local community.

Our routes involve walking, uneven surfaces, steps and periods standing outdoors. You are responsible for assessing whether a walk suits your fitness and health and for informing us of relevant conditions in advance. We will do our best to accommodate needs where we are told about them, but we cannot guarantee that every route is suitable for every participant. Participation is at your own risk, subject to the liability terms below.

All content on this website and in our route materials — including text, route designs, photographs, maps and the FuturePinecone name and marks — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by applicable law. You may use route materials for your own personal walk, but you may not copy, resell, republish or distribute our content for commercial purposes without our written permission.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FuturePinecone is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where liability is not excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the affected booking.

Our walks may include visits to independent shops, cafés and sites that we do not own or operate. Their opening hours, prices and availability are outside our control, and any purchase you make from them is a separate transaction between you and that business. We are not responsible for the goods, services or conduct of these third parties, though we welcome your feedback about them.

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force at the time of your booking applies to that booking. We will post the current version on this page with its revision date, and significant changes may be communicated to you directly. Your continued use of the website or our services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tokyo.
